It is THE best vibrator ever! I take it everywhere with me, well almost everywhere because as great as the Hitachi Magic Wand is; it has some limitations. So when I heard about the Mystic Wand, I had to get one. Now as much as I’m going to try to review this vibe on its own, I’m going to warn you that there will be some unavoidable comparisons to the Hitachi Magic Wand. I’d also like to point out that the Mystic Wand was not given to me for review by any company.
This one fact excited me the most. The Hitachi measures in at approximately 13” long from tip to tip. The Mystic Wand measures about only 8” long. That 4” inch difference is huge and makes a big difference during masturbation or partner play because you don’t have to maneuver this big ole light saber around your or your partner’s genitals or between the two of you, making it much easier and enjoyable to use.
This is a big deal. The Magic Wand is substantially heavier than the Mystic Wand, making the Mystic much easier and more pleasurable to use. Hubby and I found that the lightness of the Mystic Wand makes it much more comfortable of a vibe to lay between us during intercourse.
Since there’s a smaller motor in the Mystic Wand than Magic Wand, you barely feel the vibrations in the handle when holding it. This make using it for long periods of time enjoyable because you don’t have to keep switching hands.
Now I know I’ve always been a big supporter of the classic low, medium, high vibration settings and that’s it, but I also understand that there are ladies out there that are looking for more from their vibrator and want options. You don’t get options with the Magic Wand, it’s just low and high and that’s it. However, the Mystic Wand goes further than that. You get not only low and high vibrations, but you also get a medium setting too. Plus there are 3 other vibration programs as well: pulse, then a pulse, pulse, race setting and finally an escalate. Then if you hit the button again you’ll go back to the low setting. Getting more in a smaller, more lightweight toy that’s real easy to operate.
Some vibrators you have scroll through all the settings before you can turn it off or you have to press and hold the button down to turn it off. Either way, there’s a delay and I’m not a fan of that. When I’m finished with my vibrator, I’m done. I want to simply turn it off. The Mystic Wand makes that possible with the addition of a separate on/off switch. So once you turn it on, you can scroll through all the settings as much as you’d like without worrying about turning the vibrator off accidentally and when you’re finished with it, you simply press the on/off button and it’s off, making it real easy to operate.
The Mystic Wand has a colorful LED light that shows you what speed you’re on. From what I can see, green is low, yellow is medium and red is high. Even on the pulse and escalate settings, the light’s color changes as the speed and intensity changes. I don’t see it as being something totally necessary to operate the Wand successfully, but it is a fun addition.
There’s also a light blue light that comes on when you turn the vibe on that tells you how powerful your batteries are. But this light is multi-purpose. Sure we can easily see our power level, however, we just used this with our lady friend this weekend and she loved the fact that she could see what she was vibrating, whether it was my genitals, her genitals, hubby’s genitals. This handy battery power light, also means, you don’t have to play in the dark any more. Not only can you see everyone’s naughty bits a little better, but you can easily see the buttons on the vibe too which is helpful when playing in a dark room.
The head of the Mystic Wand is made of silicone so you can easily clean and disinfect it between uses and you can safely share it with other playmates. Silicone is a non-porous material which means that if any juices do get on it, once you wash it, all that’s gone. We love non-porous toys. Non-porous toys also tend to last longer because as long as you clean after each use, bacteria will not build up causing your toy to stink or disintegrate like rubber or jelly toys will. There’s also no latex or phthalates on this toy so it’s hypo-allergenic and can be safely used on the body. IMPORTANT TIP: Since this is made of silicone, do not use any silicone lubes with it.
The silicone cap of the Mystic Wand can be easily removed and you can clean it with soap and water or throw in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes and it’ll be totally clean. The rest of the Wand can be sprayed with a toy cleaner or I’ve been using 70% Rubbing Alcohol and that seems to do the trick. IMPORTANT TIP: Just make sure you leave the silicone cap in your dish rack to completely dry before putting it back on the wand.
This I’m proud to shout from the rooftops because unlike the Hitachi, the Mystic Wand has NO cords to fuss with and doesn’t need an electrical outlet for use. Gone are the days of keeping my sex play close to outlets. Gone are the days of running tons of extension cords through the rooms to make sure my Wand will ready whenever AND wherever I am. The Mystic Wand is more practical toy and it travels much easier. Now I just need to get 2 more: 1 for my play bag and 1 extra so when our lady friends come to play, Hubby has 2 cordless wands to buzz us both simultaneously. Yummy!
That’s the big question, at least it’s the big question I had when buying this toy. The Magic Wand’s best asset is the power it delivers, but that power comes from an electrical outlet, that’s difficult to compete with. So no, the Mystic Wand is not as insanely powerful as the Hitachi Magic Wand, it comes damn close, but is ultimately not as powerful. BUT…I’ve spoken to countless number of women that find the Hitachi Magic Wand is just too damn powerful, even on the lowest setting. It’s those ladies that would enjoy the Mystic Wand the most. Yes, I like my power and I still keep my Hitachi with extension cord plugged in on my nightstand, but because the Mystic Wand is so much smaller and lightweight and cordless, I’ve been grabbing it more and am still having wonderful orgasms. The Mystic Wand is powerfully run by 4 “AA” batteries (not included).
Because the Mystic Wand has a good range of intensity and speed between low, medium and high, I feel it will appeal to a lot of women. If you find you have a sensitive clit, the low setting should be good for you and if you find you like/desire more power, then high will be good for you. Since I like power, I usually use it on high.
The Mystic Wand isn’t a loud vibrator. In fact, the Magic Wand belts out more noise than this pint sized version does. Plus, once you hold it against your body, the sound gets muffled a bit more. If you’re looking for absolute silence, that’s impossible and doesn’t exist here. If you can play some music or have some ambient noise in the background that will certainly cover up any sound that it makes even when on the high setting.
The whole toy is made out of this smooth, velvety silicone and ABS plastic. No matter what part of it is touching you or you touching it, it just feels so lovely.
These wand style vibrators can look clinical, I mean for the longest time they were really body massagers, so they weren’t very attractive. Well, the folks at Vibratex made a change to that and I’m so happy because this Wand is just so pretty to look at. Right now it’s available in Pink and White and Black and White.
Most ladies think that because this is an external vibrator that you’re supposed to hold it over the clit and that’s it. You can do that, many women wouldn’t have it any other way and although I love my powerful wands, I find that if I hold it directly on my clit, I’m rushed to orgasm. It comes upon me too suddenly and too quickly. I like to indirectly stimulate my clit by holding the head of the vibe against my lips and vaginal opening. That area there is very sensitive to vibrations and I find that holding the vibe there causes the vibrations to move up toward my clit and down toward my taint, making the whole area feel good. As a result, I find my orgasm comes on more smoothly and steadily and lasts a little bit longer too. Even during intercourse, I hold the Wand just above my clit or to the side, it’s mostly in the area, but not right on the clit. I highly recommend using any vibrator this way, especially if you feel you have a sensitive clit.
And the con has nothing to do with the toy or the way it functions but the label on the package is a bit confusing. It says water resistant for shower or tub. This has been misunderstood by many so I wanted to clarify. In my many years of using and reviewing toys, water resistant means it’s splash friendly, so if you use it in the shower or tub and a little water splashes on it, the wand is okay. It does not say that the Mystic Wand is water-proof which means you shouldn’t submerge the toy in water. So don’t lay in your tub and buzz yourself under the water.
For decades, the Hitachi Magic Wand has been the be-all-end-all of vibrators, mostly because of its power. However, I’m here to report that I think the bulky Magic Wand’s days in the spotlight are coming to an end. No the Mystic Wand does not provide more power than the Magic Wand, it can’t because it’s battery operated, no batteries can compete with the power from an electrical outlet. But the Mystic Wand offers so much more than the Magic Wand. You now have a wide range of power between the low, medium and high settings and none of them vibrate your clit off. Plus you have access to 3 more vibrational settings, giving you many options that are not possible with the Magic Wand.
It’s battery operated, meaning there’s no cords to fuss with and no outlets are required; take the Mystic Wand wherever you’d like. The Mystic Wand is small, making it easier to maneuver during masturbation and partner sex. Plus, it’s lighter to hold onto with your hands and to lay between partners during intercourse.
The Mystic Wand is easy to use with separate on/off and programming buttons so you don’t accidentally turn it off right in the middle of a hot session. Being made of silicone and ABS plastic it’s easy to clean, easy to share and velvety smooth to touch.
It’s discreet and pretty in appearance and discreet in sound as well. You’ll need another ambient sound in the room to muffle the sound, but all in all it’s not a loud vibrator. While you cannot submerge it under water to get your rocks off, you can use it near water because it is splash proof giving you even more options than the electrical Magic Wand.
I had heard a lot of good things about the Mystic Wand before trying it out and through all the vibrators I’ve tried and played with, I’ve always touted the Hitachi as being my favorite. I doubted the Mystic Wand because it wasn’t electrical, but I’m so happy to report that really didn’t make a difference to me, I love the Mystic Wand, it’s become our go to toy.
If you love the Magic Wand but are tired of the fuss to use it and are looking for something similar but more portable and just, well, more, the Mystic Wand is for you. If you’ve tried the Magic Wand and are frustrated that it’s just too darn much to stand, then the Mystic Wand is for you as well.
